i know i'm about 2 days late in my thanksgiving blog entry. but i thought it necessary to write something anyway since there's much too much to be thankful for.
this year has been quite a surprising year. i met someone who ended up to be not the great guy i thought he would be. however hurt or mad or excited i was, i wouldn't give it up for a second. thankful of the realization that i am capable of letting someone into my self prescribed solitary confinement. too bad i entertained the wrong person into that oh so off limits zone. i learned too that we don't get to choose sometimes and however much we push the emotion away, your heart doesn't let YOU choose. it picks whomever it wants and you just have to live with the consequences. i also learned to trust my friends and to actually listen to my gut feeling.
which brings me to another thing to be thankful for. i'm thankful for my friends. who would support me in whatever i choose. who would give me advice and step aside to see me 1) make a fool of myself, 2) then being there for the fallout, 3) for not really saying "i told you so" but instead saying, "you had to see it for yourself...but we wouldn't have let you get too hurt. we would have pulled you out of it if need be," 4) and for thinking the awful things i would have wished for someone else, but since i feel too bad for doing so, they took it upon themselves to do it for me, and 5) for loving me regarldess of how stupid i become. that's what friends are for right? the great ones are the ones that stay be it good, bad, or just plain icky.
i'm thankful for my parents. this is not just to say it ... i totally mean it. mom especially. she's blown me away with her capacity to do what needs to be done without pushing too hard. challange me enough to make me think but backing off knowing that i'd come back when i'm ready. i LOVE her. thank GOD for this awesome blessing.
...there are so much more. but the major ones are written above. i pray next year would be full of lessons learned, of happy memories, and blessed times.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
