the calling

all are called to do something in this world. that's why we are placed here. whether it be to make someone smile. be a missionary. be a mother/father. to be a sister/brother. we are meant to do something. our actions, however me might think it to me not important actually affects others. how does that chinese proverb go: a flap of a butterfly's wing caused a hurricane in latin america? or something like that. just like my freshman year in college. i was walking to my first class at 7:45am. i was miserable of course for it was hella early in the morning. then i came across this boy and he smiled and tipped his hat. i can never forget that scene. it made my day. actually it made my college experience. that one act of a stranger i met on a walkway while i was headed for class. i felt like i was reverted to another era. it was suave, and elegant. we need to bring that back. the times when people have some respect and decency. men holding doors for women. or even the simple things like not spitting. now, THAT is something we need not see. just gross. i digress...but just simple thoughtful things need to be brought back. not talking back to parents. respecting your elders. where did all that go? we are so caught up in the now and we do not realize that the basic decency has disappeared. how sad. i want it back. we complain at times that some values are "old." but really they're not that bad. some need to stay in the past but others need to be adopted to the present. i guess i'm just wishing that we get back the values we had.

you smile at me and it helps
sensing you calms me
the bit of time given
all else forgiven
when you are there, my friend

my constant companion
we laugh out loud
we even laugh at each other
so long as we do it together

a helping hand you are to me
a grounding force
we sometimes fight but suprisingly
but it keeps us stronger, no price nor fee

i trust you will be there
and i for you
my friend, you are a dear
and i appreciate you
