the trip

i just got back from my trip to NYC. i have to say, i love that city. you can't deny that NYC has it's magic that just envelopes you. something about it that makes you think. well, for me anyway --that's the effect. when you look out into the sky line, i thought of the many possibilities. the buildings that towers over you --intimidating and yet reachable by some means. some of my reflections really are from the metro rail. how it's journey parallels our lives...if you can't see it, just follow the thought. we pay our toll to get into the train station just as we pay our dues, being born into this world. we hop into the train to take us to a desired destination just as we pick and choose which path we choose as our life's goal. then we can always change our minds and hop off then decide to take another path. same with life. we all have the prerogative to change directions. oh and the wonderful view of the water with the fall foliage. it's just plain beautiful!!!! sometime in the future, i will live in NYC even for just a short stint. =)

i look around the blank faces
those whose lives written in visible traces
on every demeanor of their being
of sorrow, of journey, of joyful beginnings

we all wait, patiently for our train ride
to take us to a destination we vaguely comprehend
a place we can only dream of
perhaps cannot even fathom the end

we hop on the train to take us to our destination
our choices open, vision unknown
blind faith is all is necessary
to get to the goal, to get to our destiny

many hop off before the end
losing hope, being impatient
i sit there, as i enjoy the ride
looking from inside to the outside

i see faces, all blurry
some i focus on but often i'm in a hurry
i often think if i should hop off
before i reach the goal at hand

as i ponder through while i ride
i often wonder if i'm on the right way
will i ever reach the goal?
will i never see it's soul?

i should not think of concrete possibilities
else i'll go insane and not comprehend
that the goal is a mystery
until the very end

-------------------------------------------------------------
i took a token and placed it on the slot
to begin the journey i came to take part
i sit there and look as i wait for the ride
nervous about what's going to happen inside

i look about the other faces
all different backgrounds
and with different expectations
as we all wait for the train ride to our
assigned destination

i'm anxious about the trip
should i just turn around and skip it?
i calmed my nerves and sat patiently
for the train to take me to my destiny

i hop in, awkwardly finding a seat
not knowing what's instored on this trip
i settle down soaking in the experience
as the train started chugging out from the station

i observed the world from the inside out
seeing it pass by, a blurr
overwhelmed, i pondered if i should get off
on this train ride set for me

will i know which stop is mine
and will it satisfy my expectation
or disappoint me completely
as i sit in the train oh so quietly

i question every stop
is this it? or continue the ride
i look about again
peering into the faces of people

they have the same expression
none with total exhiliration
my heart raced and i start to cry
when i reach the end, is that when i die?

i guess we just need to be patient
this road is tough and never ever present
it's how we get there that is important
as we ride the train to our destination
