Idle. It's funny to me that when we are actually working, we fantasize about not working at all. Doing nothing in fact rather than the mundane requisite for adults to earn a living seems to be something we all dream about. The odd thing, I've recently observed, is that when we actually get a chance not to work, we fuss about doing nothing. Maybe for some people who actually have life outside a job, it is not a problem --or is it?
Me for example. I have a pretty active extra-curricular activities. Having to teach at church, take guitar lessons, and other church-y goings on, I seem to still find that I get bored. I guess the usual playmates are themselves working, therefore leaving me to my lonely self to find entertainment. Television during the day is just not pleasurable enough. Ellen DeGeneres' show excluding. That one show is actually amusing. But one can only take the tube for so long. In eventuality, it loses its sparkle and I am once again, at a loss for an activity.
Don't get me wrong. I have some "to do" lists. Yet, I find myself dillying around and sleeping all day instead. I had such great plans during my days off. Clean my car, do laundry, straighten out my room and the guest room (that I've happily taken over), etc. Granted, I've done most of it but it took so much energy to do so. I still have to clean my car ... I have expanded my closet into it as well. Lots of clothes...what can I say?! =P
Anyway, I just find it funny. I guess we need people around us even if we complain. Even the people who are annoying can be sufficient enough to occupy time. You don't realize how much you complain about them, 'til there's no one to complain about...and that very act entertained you.
Oh well...it was just a random funny thought and figured I'd share it.
