There For Me

It didn't take much for me to notice

Or did it take too long for me to see

You were standing there long before I knew

That you were there for me

 

I pushed and pushed as hard as I can

I turned a blind eye pretending

That nothing really bothers me

That you were really not there for me

 

Wasn't you who said

All I need to do is try

Wasn't you who urged

To at least take a taste before I say goodbye

You dared me to take that step

And that's all that really matters

 

I tried to hide beneath the shadows

Perhaps behind the crazy scene

I peeked sometimes from behind the curtains

To see if the audience is for real

 

Underneath the bright hot lights

I moved about like a mannequin delight

Trying to be what everyone wanted me to be

When all I really want is to run away

...I cry so hard

...I laugh a little louder

...I didn't think that I'd be here,

beyond the shadows of my fear
