"Cuz he was born on the 4th of July"

The long weekend has come and gone and I have yet to write about it. There was really nothing exciting about it. Although it was a nice relaxing weekend for me. Friday night, I went and met up with an old classmate of mine from the Philippines. It surprised me that I have some ties from back at home (besides my family) here in the Washington, D.C. area. I admit, I was anxious really and a little apprehensive. I really have not fond memories of my school years back at good 'ol St. Scholastica's Academy. Yes, I was in a catholic school...in fact, I was in a catholic school from kindergarten 'til I moved here to the US when I was 15. That's pretty long and yet I survived, partially scarred but not enough to need therapy. Or maybe I do need one?!? Anyway, we had a great time, reminiscing the past, looking at today, and looking forward to tomorrow. It was great. She invited me to go dancin' but I had the wrong pair of shoes on so I didn't go...and didn't make any promises that I'd follow since I know, that once I see the bed, I'm gonna go pass out. Ah sleep. I can sleep all day long. In fact, in college I'd skip class just to sleep. But I digress...

Saturday. Well, that was a great day. I pampered myself that day. Went to the gym in the morning, then went to the spa for a nice manicure and pedicure. Ahhh....it has been more than a month since I've had one of those so it was quite relaxing and fun. My aunt Monette came over since she and her family were in town. We ate lots of buffet food from a local Chinese restaurant ---which I know for some people are scary but it's great food. Trust me! One thing that amazes me though is since it's a buffet, you can come and go as you please and not worry about dumping food onto your plate all at once. Unless you're a lazy ass and just don't want to get up. But I just don't understand why people DO dump food onto their plates KNOWING they're going back anyway. It really amazes me. Will the food run out? Have you not been eating for the past 10 days that devouring food is your only goal? Its crazy. The food won't run out. You can just keep on getting food if you're starving and eat 'til your stomach is about to burst. Anyway, after dinner --they played mah jong at home. A Filipino tradition --in my family anyway. They love it. I'm not big on it myself ... so I watched a movie instead.

Sunday was of course the 4th of July. I celebrated with my bestest pal Jason. His boyfriend Rob cooked the best food (Satay chicken --with peanut sauce, salads) --Jason made the pasta salad. I've met many of more of their great pals as we watch the festivities at the mall from Jason's rooftop deck. No need to be all crowded and stuff. After the fireworks, I went with the men to the local bar/club and danced our hearts out. Oh I almost forgot --of course we had some libations in this little gathering. Great concoction by Rob (note the theme --Rob can cook!!!!) I think they whipped out the jello shots near the end of the evening. Oh what fun! When we got to the club, everyone was so drunk. I of course seized drinking earlier on so that I can safely drive home. Water for me. So it was entertaining to watch --the men around me (who I cannot have...and still gorgeous)were drunk and funny.

Monday --well, it's sleeping day Monday. Oh yay! So that's all folks.
