St. Patty's Account and more

While I was looking through my page, I realized I never was able to finish my account of my St. Patty's weekend. Then again, what I did write is to an extent all that really happened and anything else I would have written would fall under nonsense details. I'll spare you that and move on.

The past week has been hellish. I was out in the field all week except Monday. Field meaning, going to prisons in the state of Maryland. Oh what fun. But it turned out to be not too bad really. I met some fun correctional officers and learned from their experiences. Realized that the state of our correctional facilities is slowly deteriorating though the main goal of each would be for public safety. Not really great if half the staff is not there due to budget cuts. Great news huh? Anyway, that's why new leadership is needed, both federally and stately --in hopes that these new leaders would somehow make some worth while changes in governing.

Yesterday we celebrated Adrienne's birthday, although her golden birthday (she's turning 23 on the 23rd of March) isn't 'til Tuesday. We had dinner (that changed about 3 times in like a day and a half. From Maggiano's, Cheesecake factory, to That's Amore --where we ended up at) a That's Amore. Lots of great food there however, the festivities were dampened by the 2 pt. loss of our beloved Terps on the road to the sweet 16. They're a young team so we forgive them. =) The second leg of the evening was going to Dave and Busters. There, by tag-teaming --we conquered House of the Dead 2. It ate up most of our credits but it was worth it. The 3rd leg, and in turn became the last leg of the evening (there was movie talk --Dawn of the Dead but we missed the last show), we went to Modern. A club/bar in Georgetown. Fun stuff. I liked most of the music but the heels that I wore started to kill me so that was not too enjoyable. But being a woman, I endured the pain and continued to party down. Like I said, Fun stuff. Whee hooo! I got home around 2:45, showered and passed out around 3. (I could not not shower since I wreaked of cigarette smoke, yuck!)

Today, Sunday --very lazy day. I slept most of the day. Church at 1 --where a pretty good looking guy was a visitor from Florida...hmmmm, hope he becomes a regular....maybe we can reel him into doing some youth ministry stuff and I get to know him....am I evil or what? Let's move on. I went home. Slept. Woke up then went back to St. Rose for house band practice. I'm still feeling my way in so we shall see if I stick with it.

As for anything personal...well, I'm still working things through. Trying to figure out what I want to do with my life --actually, let me rephrase that --trying to figure out what GOD wants me to do with my life. I'm moving through and learning about myself quite slowly. But its all you can ask for really...learn as you journey through life. If you don't learn anything, then you waste life. While I was doing my prison visits, I journaled and let me share some poems. Enjoy!

16 March 2004
how do we measure our lives?
from the time of conception to the time we die
it's what's in between that matters most
have we lead our lives to the most?

the point is in the end
we are reduced to no more than ourselves
our worldly phrases
defined only to memories
memories that eventually fade into nothing
slowly, the colors painted by our lives
in hopes that it will blend into everything, evolving from one to whole
into something beyond ourselves, even more powerful

but it is the inbetween that we can control
the inbetween that we have a say
the inbetween where choice and will impacts our stay

enjoy what you have now
see the beauty, the sun in the sky
a smile from a little baby
but seize the day before its gone
enjoy your stay today
